24 hours in the life of Mumma

Saturday 4th November

00:00 to 01:00

Hand expressed breast milk as I’m trying to build up my supply. You never know when you might be ill or unable to breastfeed.

Put a load of laundry in the washer and some in the tumble dryer.

Chopped herbs and lemons then cleaned and butter marinated the chicken for dinner.

01:00 to 02:00

Cut and seasoned vegetables.

Put another load of laundry in the washer. Ignore the coffee stains down the front of the washer. I don’t drink the stuff but spend everyday clearing it up off the walls, floor and cabinets.

Changed the baby’s nappy then fed my extremely hungry baby, he would eat nonstop if he could. Excuse the intensely tired eyes but this is what I look like now all of the time.

02:00 to 03:00

Still feeding it lasts for about 45 minutes.

Organise the mess in the kitchen. Fall asleep on the sofa.

03:00 to 04:00

Asleep on the sofa

04:00 to 05:00

Asleep on the sofa.

05:00 to 06:00

Wake up after 2 hours 15 minutes sleep, toilet break for me. Baby wakes so it breasting time. Feed the baby while replying to messages and scrolling through Instagram. I stare out into the darkness focusing on a reef on my wall that is in need of a battery change and think to myself whether I should get up now and get some much needed domestic chores done and make pastry for a pie for dessert later or stay here cuddled up with baby and try for an extra hour of sleep.

Change batteries in the light up reef which instantly highlights spiders corner. I’ll vacuum that all up later.

06:00 to 07:00

Hears partners alarm go off upstairs, hears partner get out of bed walk over to phone turns it off gets back into bed. I then decide to lay on the sofa for a little bit running through everything I want to get done today before my friend comes round for lunch. Thinking of cooking us Lemon and mint courgetti with squash, chickpea, bean, tomato and walnut topped with stilton cheese. Does anybody else have random meal combinations just come at them? Then you feel a strong urge to get the ingredients and cook them. Am I alone on that one?

Hears partner get out of bed 20 minutes later playing videos at high volume through his phone. *Insert eye roll here*. Baby cries for another feed so another feed is what he gets. Oh how I love his little cherub chops. Partner stomps around the house like someone has let a herd of cattle in the bathroom window and let run down the stairs. He comes into the lounge turns on light bashes about then leaves for work. I’ve decided to lay here until 7am then get up and get as much stuff done as possible as baby has fallen back to sleep and will hopefully stay that way for at least a couple of hours.

07:00 to 08:00

Fed the baby again. Fell asleep feeding the baby.

08:00 to 09:00

09:00 to 10:00

Woke up breastfed baby, made porridge for breakfast for baby and me. Changed the babies poopy nappy. Fed the baby porridge.

10:00 to 11:00

Still feeding the baby. Gave baby water. Ran a bath. Undressed baby took of yet another poooy nappy.

11:00 to 12:00

Had a bath with the baby. Fed the baby in the bath because apparently milk then porridge then water is not enough.

12:00 to 13:00

Partner came home from work and took the baby so I could get dressed. He dressed the baby then made himself lunch. I put on fresh PJs as I’m not planning on going anywhere today. I breast fed the baby who then fell asleep on the boob. I put him down and tidied the lounge ready for my friends arrival.

13:00 to 14:00

My friend came over for a catch up and to meet the baby. I cooked lunch for all of us I was going to use spaghetti squash but forgot I needed to roast it first and being very hungry I opted for pasta. I pan cooked harlaquin squash, tomatoes, butter beans and courgettes in coconut oil and thyme.  Cooked up pasta and seasoned with lemon juice and mint. My friend said it was nice but I did over cook the pasta a bit.

14:00 to 15:00

Caught up with my friend who bought my son a great gift of a book. We love reading to the baby.

15:00 to 16:00

My friend left. I breast fed the baby because again eating food isn’t enough. The baby fell asleep in my arms. I watch a bit of Netflix while holding the baby because I know as soon as I put him down he’ll wake up and I’d like him to have a little nap for once.

16:00 to 17:00

Changed the baby’s nappy. Cleaned out the dogs. Put a load of laundry on. Washed the dishes. Started on dinner by putting chicken in the oven and roasting slowly. Mixed stuffing and made stuffing balls with sausage meat. Tyler’s friend came over for dinner.

17:00 to 18:00

Chopped bacon and Brussel sprouts. Cooked the veg and the stuffing. Made pumpkin puddings.

18:00 to 19:00

Finished cooking.

19:00 to 20:00

Served dinner. Breast fed the baby. Then I ate my dinner. Stacked dirty dishes. Nappy change.
20:00 to 21:00

Breast Fed the baby. Dessert was a fail so ate fig biscuits instead. Made up the spare room for Tylers friend. Watched The Wheelman on Netflix.

21:00 to 22:00

Nappy change. Watched the Wheelman on Netflix.

22:00 to 23:00

Watched 6 Days on Netflix while breast feeding the baby and eating biscuits. Baby has fallen asleep.

23:00 to 00:00

Watched 6 Days on Netflix.
That was 24 hour in my life, nothing exciting just an average day. Even though I got a lot done I still feel I didn’t get enough done. It is interesting to look back and see where the time was spent.
